Classify Shapes and Model Multi-Step Problems
Learners classify triangles and quadrilaterals by their properties and organise them in a hierarchy, explaining why every square is also a rectangle and a rhombus. The second half of the course pulls the whole year together: learners plan, solve and check multi-step problems that combine fractions, decimals, volume and unit conversion, and critique flawed solutions.

- Ways to answer: choose an answer, type a fraction, match pairs, type a number, put in order and sort into groups
What learners will discover
- Classify triangles by sides and angles and quadrilaterals by parallel sides, equal sides and right angles.
- Explain a hierarchy of two-dimensional figures: properties of a category belong to all of its subcategories.
- Plan and solve multi-step real-world problems that combine fractions, decimals, volume and unit conversion.
- Check solutions for reasonableness and units, and find and fix errors in a worked solution.
