Should Cursive Still Be Taught?
Last summer my grandmother handed me a shoebox of letters her parents wrote to each other in the 1950s, and I could not read them. The handwriting was neat, even elegant, but to me it looked like a row of loops and tangled thread. I am sixteen, and like many people my age, I was never taught cursive. When most states adopted the Common Core standards around 2010, the standards left cursive out, and many schools quietly dropped it.
