What children learn in logic

Logic puzzles train attention, memory and careful step-by-step thinking. Young children match, sort, finish patterns and find hidden objects from position clues; early elementary children solve picture mazes, tangrams and patterns with a rule. From third grade, puzzles need several clues at once: grid deductions, sliding and switching puzzles, mirrors and turning 3D shapes in the mind. Middle school puzzles plan several moves ahead, the same reasoning used in algebra, coding and science.
