Grade 3 · Fable
The Two Goats on the Bridge
Morning in rocky hills. A fast, foamy stream rushes through a deep gap between two steep slopes. A white goat stands at one end of a fallen tree trunk that crosses the gap, one hoof lifted. At the far end, a brown goat does the same. The two goats are drawn the same size, with short curved horns. Pine trees and a blue sky.
A cold, fast stream rushed between two steep hills. The only bridge was one narrow log. It was wide enough for just one goat at a time.
