Is It True? How to Check a Source
Imagine that a hurricane has just struck the coast, and a friend sends you a startling photo: a shark swimming down a flooded highway, its fin slicing through brown water beside a row of half-sunken cars. The caption claims it was taken that morning, and within an hour thousands of people have shared it. Should you share it, too? Anyone can post anything online, so part of the job of judging what is true now falls on you, and it takes only a few minutes.
