The Lost Mitten
A snowy yard on a bright winter morning, with a bare tree, a low fence and a red sled. A girl of five with fair skin, freckles and ginger pigtails, in a green puffy coat, a striped woolly hat, blue mittens and red boots, tips her face up to catch falling snowflakes. She is laughing.
Nora played in the snow. Her hand got cold. Her mitten was gone! She followed her footprints back. The mitten was by the sled.
