Who Invented the Telephone?
Ask who invented the telephone, and most people will answer quickly: Alexander Graham Bell. Bell was a Scottish-born teacher of deaf students in Boston. On March 7, 1876, he received a patent for the telephone. Three days later, he spoke into his new device, and his helper, Thomas Watson, heard the words clearly in the next room.
