Grade 1 · Story
Late for the Bus
A messy bedroom on a school morning. A boy of six with fair skin, freckles and spiky brown hair, in a green sweater, hops on one foot with one shoe on and one blue sock showing, peering under the bed. His sister, about nine, with fair skin and a long brown ponytail, in a red coat and a backpack, calls from the doorway.
Owen had one shoe on, but where was the other one? He looked under his bed and behind the door.
