Grade 1 · Story
The Hare and the Hedgehog
A farm field at sunrise, with long rows of brown earth running far off to a green hedge. At the near end, a tall brown hare leans back laughing, paws on his belly, beside a small round hedgehog. The hedgehog looks up at him with a sly little grin. A crow sits on a fence post, and cabbages grow in the next field.
Hare laughed at Hedgehog's short legs. "Let's race," said Hedgehog.
