Spelling Games for Kids

Good spellers hear the sounds in a word, know the common patterns and check their work. These free spelling games build all three: children build words sound by sound, pick the right spelling and fix misspelled words, type words exactly to stack crates, and proofread sentences for spelling and punctuation. Practice moves from short-vowel words in kindergarten through blends, vowel teams and silent e to prefixes, suffixes and tricky sound-alikes in the upper grades. The printable sheets add plurals, homophones, prefixes and suffixes on paper.
