The tricky ones
11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132 are the ones to practice; children sometimes say 1111 or 122.
Tens plus one more group
Up to 11 × 9 the answer is the digit written twice: 11 × 4 = 44. After that, 11 × 10 = 110, 11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132 need a real strategy.
11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132 are the ones to practice; children sometimes say 1111 or 122.
Do 10 × and add one more group: 11 × 12 is 120 + 12 = 132. The same move explains why 11 × 4 is 40 + 4 = 44.
3 × 11 = 33
Every multiplication fact has a division fact in its family: if 11 × 4 = 44, then 44 ÷ 11 = 4.
